Dresden (AP) – Third division football club Dynamo Dresden has strengthened with Akaki Gogia. The 30-year-old is moving from the Swiss first division club FC Zurich to Saxony and has signed a contract until 2024, as the club announced on Monday. A transfer fee was not mentioned. Gogia already played for Dresden in the 2016/17 season and then left the club for Union Berlin. With nine points from six games, relegated Dresden started the season below expectations.

“I had an incredibly intense, successful and wonderful time here and I really want to continue that. I’m looking forward to the challenge and I’ve made it my goal to take on responsibility and to perform well,” said Gogia. The midfielder completed the medical check in Dresden on Monday and could play against Borussia Dortmund II on Saturday (2 p.m. / MagentaSport).
