Exciting sport on new terrain

The traditional autumn festival horse race of the Erdinger Rennverein took place again on Saturday after a break due to the pandemic and attracted hundreds of visitors to the Geislinger Änger. A successful premiere on the new track took place on the new 1600 meter long temporary run on the municipal meadow between the Volksfestplatz and Langengeisling. The 30th autumn festival race offered exciting equestrian sports in sunshine and a pleasant atmosphere and a colorful supporting program with pony races and the awarding of the most beautiful hats: “We are very satisfied with the course of the race day, everything went well. The weather was right, there were none Accidents. The atmosphere was good”, was the conclusion of the president of the racing association, Anette Vogt.

Important enrichment of the autumn festival

Patron Max Gotz (CSU), who awarded the city’s grand prize to Martin Geineder (with Gri Di Caprio), also enjoyed the race day. The Lord Mayor of Erding described the new racetrack as a “good alternative” and praised the racing club as an institution firmly rooted in the citizenry of the city and the “authentic autumn festival race as an important enrichment of the autumn festival program”. He knows many anecdotes about the race, said Gotz. Vogt added that the city’s support was not a matter of course.

The meadow was well prepared – the drinks stands with beer, coffee, prosecco, cocktails were ready, visitors of all ages came. The racing club treasurer Florian Pointner registered around 300 guests paying admission – there used to be thousands of visitors – but the atmosphere was so relaxed. And the drivers and riders were satisfied with the new racetrack. The move to the new course on the municipal meadow behind the Gerd-Vogt-Sportpark had become necessary because after the 2018 autumn festival race on the meadow in 2019, construction work had started on the sports park named after the former mayor. Visitors had to walk a few meters further from the Volksfestplatz to the new racetrack.

In terms of sport, the climax – the final decisive run of the trotters for the Grand Prix of the city of Erding – was unstoppable for the horse Gri Di Caprio , who had been spoiled by success this season, with Martin Geineder in the sulky. The horse of the Arnstorf innkeeper Walter Wuttke has already won many trophies this season, which can be admired in the inn. The honorary prize of the city presented by Gotz is now added to the collection. Previously, Gri Di Caprio had won the decisive race for the grand prize of the city of Erding in the race of the six participants who qualified after two heats with Martin Geineder in the sulky. The successful duo has won several prizes and winner’s checks this season. Before the finale, Geineder had already won the consolation run with Wuttke’s Unguento after an exciting and gripping finish, just a nose’s length ahead of Kenneth Heat with driver Mario Josef Ruhland after the finish line judge’s decision.

After the preliminary heats, the Junglefire , who traveled from Zell am See in Austria with driver Maximilian Frick, were considered to be co-favourites in addition to Gri Di Caprio . The spectators saw exciting races in the two heats and in the consolation run up to the deciding run. Marion Dinzinger was unable to defend the title won in 2018 on the old track in Erding with Outsider Diamant and Dakota de Digeon . Favorite and serial winner Gri Di Caprio was in top form in the preliminary and decisive run.

There were 16 participants in the awards for the most beautiful hats: Sandra Angermaier won over the jury with the “Pear Tree” hat in the Creativity category. “Flower Meadow” by Marlene Linz was awarded for the most beautiful hat ensemble: said Anette Vogt. The races were commented on by Markus Dinzinger from the Main Association for Traberbreeding on the microphone. The second chairman of the racing club, Josef Ehrenthaler junior, took care of the condition of the track with the team. According to Vogt and Gotz, the new course on the meadow between the Volksfestplatz, Eisstadion, Gerd-Vogt-Sportpark and Langengeisling has established itself and will also serve as a racetrack for the 31st Autumn Festival Race. The deputy district administrator Rainer Mehringer (FW), as well as city councilors and district councilors such as Stefan Grabrucker (SPD) and Thomas Bauer (CSU) also liked the event; like Vogt and Gotz, they drew a positive conclusion from the 30th autumn festival race. The Erding racing club has 340 members.
