Hamburg / Berlin (dpa / lno) – With the third relief package from the federal government, many people can now go into winter with more peace of mind, according to Hamburg’s second mayor Katharina Fegebank (Greens). “The federal government will help those who have benefited less from the relief so far,” said Fegebank on Sunday. It is a strong relief package that is “socially fair, appeals to everyone and no longer allows random profits in the energy market”.
The traffic light coalition of Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) presented a relief package worth more than 65 billion euros on Sunday in view of rising prices. The most important decisions include an energy flat rate for pensioners and students, a cap on the price of electricity for basic consumption and a new nationwide local transport ticket. In addition, the standard rates for the needy and child benefit are to be increased.
