Leverkusen / Freiburg (dpa) – Offensive player Roland Sallai from SC Freiburg suffered a fracture of the floor of his eye in the away game at Bayer Leverkusen (3: 2). The Baden Bundesliga soccer club confirmed a corresponding message from “Kicker” on Sunday. A decision on how to treat the injury will be made on Monday. The 25-year-old may be threatened with a longer break.
Sallai fell early in Saturday’s game. When he tried to get up again, he was unluckily hit with his foot below the left eye by Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah. After minutes of treatment, the Hungarian international was sent off and substituted.
Freiburg defender Manuel Gulde also had to stay in the dressing room at half-time. His left ankle is to be checked on Monday, as the club announced.
