Mönchengladbach (dpa) – Borussia Mönchengladbach’s head coach Daniel Farke continues to trust his well-rehearsed starting eleven. Against FSV Mainz 05 this Sunday, Julian Weigl and Nathan Ngoumou, who have just been signed, still have to wait for their starting XI debut for Borussia. Farke also has no place in the top eleven for captain Lars Stindl, who has since recovered. The trio is initially on the bench against Rheinhessen. Compared to the 1-1 draw at FC Bayern Munich last week, only Ramy Bensebaini, who was previously ill, is returning to the team for Luca Netz.
Attacking player Ngoumou (FC Toulouse) and midfielder Weigel (Benfica Lisbon) had only joined the undefeated Borussia in the past few days. Stindl has been back for two weeks after recovering from a muscle injury.
Mainz coach Bo Svensson makes two changes to his team compared to the 3-0 defeat against Bayer Leverkusen last week: Leandro Barreiro and Jae-Sung Lee are the first to replace Angelo Fulgini and national player Anton Stach. It is Barreiro’s starting XI debut this season.
