Peter Inselkammer

If aliens land with their spaceships on the Theresienwiese shortly before tapping, they too would not be able to stop the Oktoberfest : Peter Inselkammer, spokesman for the Wiesnwirte, surprised the people of Munich with this steep thesis at the end of August. At the presentation of the official municipal beer mug, he boldly announced that the “point of no return” had now been reached, and that no one could cancel the Oktoberfest, as had happened in the past two years. That’s not quite right, because the city of Munich has stipulated in the contracts with innkeepers and showmen that it can cancel the festival by September 13 without having to face claims for damages. Four days later, on Saturday, would be the official start of the world’s largest folk festival.
