The citizens’ initiative “S4 expansion now” continues to call for a four-track expansion of the S 4 independently of the second main S-Bahn line in Munich. It must now be planned immediately without delay, the initiative demands. Their spokesmen spoke against the background of the disaster surrounding the second tunnel, the construction of which has been delayed for years and the cost of which has doubled to at least 7.2 billion euros. This confirmed the warnings of the critics of this controversial project. BI assumes that the plan approval procedure that has been started for the conversion of the west end of Pasing is progressing rapidly. With a four-track expansion, the tracks for the S-Bahn should be on the outside, because of barrier-free access. “Of course, we are fully committed to external platforms in the stops and stations along the S4, because only this variant is permanently barrier-free and really passenger-friendly,” emphasize the BI spokesman. So far, Bahn AG is planning the S-Bahn tracks inside.

At the general meeting of the citizens’ initiative, which took place recently, the speaker group was re-elected. The previous speakers Andreas Barth (Pro Bahn), Martin Eberl (SPD), Hartwig Hagenguth (citizens for Grafrath), Dagmar Mosch (Greens) and Mirko Pötzsch (SPD) were confirmed. In addition, Jan Halbauer (Greens) from Fürstenfeldbruck and Gudrun Karger from the Advisory Board for the Disabled in Puchheim will be involved in the speaker group. They were also elected to the enlarged body.
