Wedel (dpa / lno) – seven people were injured in a fire in a high-rise building in Wedel (Pinneberg district) – one of them critically. According to the fire brigade, there was a fire on the fifth floor of the 13-story house, prompting several residents to call the emergency services. Some people were still inside when smoke began to seep into their homes through the cracks in the door frames. They were taken out of the house, some using turntable ladders, because the black smoke cut off their escape route via the stairwell.
Of the seven injured, one person is in mortal danger with burns and smoke inhalation. Four others are suspected of having smoke inhalation. There was initially little information about the injured. All that was known on Sunday morning was that at least a 32-year-old woman and a 68-year-old man were among the injured and taken to a hospital. The fire was already extinguished after three quarters of an hour on Sunday morning. The police have started an investigation into the cause of the fire. There was initially no information about the damage to property.
