For weeks we tried to educate visitors to the world art show about anti-Semitism. But we met anger, ignorance and Nazi comparisons.
Anti-Semitism at the Documenta Fifteen has been the subject of debate for months. We too hoped that a dialogue between artists, visitors and critics would bring them closer together. We ourselves have put a lot of effort into building bridges, listening and communicating. Today we have to admit that all our efforts have come to nothing and that the discussion has yielded little – apart from self-affirmation for those involved. An obituary for the nonsense of summer – dialogue.
