The wound of September 5th

Joachim Molter

Henning Bath experienced the terrorist attack at the 1972 Olympics almost from the start. A friend from television had rang him up early in the morning: He should go to the Olympic Village immediately, something was happening. A little after five o’clock Bath, then the village press chief, was there. He also saw the body of Mosche Weinberg, the shot Israeli wrestling trainer, who the assassins laid in front of the house at 31 Connollystrasse to emphasize their demands: the release of more than 300 Palestinians from Israeli custody; terrorists from other countries were also on the list.
