Sittensen (dpa / lni) – A 34-year-old is suspected of having set fire to a refugee accommodation in the district of Rotenburg. Nobody was injured in the fire in Sittensen on Saturday evening. According to initial investigations, ten Sudanese living on the upper floor of the facility became aware of the smoke on the ground floor, the police said on Sunday. They extinguished a burning T-shirt hanging on a drying rack with water.

The 34-year-old German was in the entrance area of the building. After a brief argument, the man, who was unknown to the residents, reportedly drove away in a vehicle. He was caught by the police a little later. The fire experts and the state protection of the Rotenburg police have started the investigation. It must be checked whether it is a politically motivated act.
