Hazy with a lot of costume

When the Wiesn begins, one thing is almost certain: the sun will shine. Well, exceptions prove the rule. So this time it was cold and damp. But that shouldn’t have bothered the participants and spectators too much at the costume parade on Sunday in Munich. After all, it’s Oktoberfest. Around 9,000 folks, marksmen, hunters, bands and other clubs left Maximilianstrasse and marched through the old town to the Theresienwiese. There were also representatives from the district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen, such as the mountain riflemen from Kochel am See. The Beuerberg band also played. And the Egerländer from Geretsried presented their precious traditional costume, which was awarded the title “Traditional Costume of the Year 2022” this year. The train was about seven kilometers long. Incidentally, people wearing traditional costumes and riflemen ran through the city for the first time on the silver wedding anniversary of King Ludwig I and Therese of Bavaria in 1835.
