Heidenheim and Lautern separate 2:2

Heidenheim (dpa) – One day after his 15-year service anniversary, coach Frank Schmidt missed the leap to the promotion relegation place in the 2nd Bundesliga with 1. FC Heidenheim.

Despite being outnumbered for an hour, Heidenheimer did not get more than 2:2 (2:1) at home against 1. FC Kaiserslautern. With 16 points, FCH is in fifth place, the promoted team from the Palatinate is seventh with two points fewer.

Jan-Niklas Beste (18′) and Marnon Busch (44′) put the home side ahead twice, which Terrence Boyd equalized (20’/60′). FCK goalkeeper Andreas Luthe saw the red card for an emergency brake (41st).

Both teams met at eye level. Best benefited at 1-0 from the fact that Lautern’s central defender Kevin Kraus slipped away. At the first equalization, Heidenheimer didn’t manage to clear the ball. Boyd converted the second cross. Then Luthe flew off the field after referee Tobias Reichel looked at the pictures again. The keeper had illegally stopped Beste. Just three minutes later, Busch converted a free kick directly.

The visitors didn’t give up even with a man down on the field and were able to equalize again through Boyd. In the final phase, FCK saved the fourth draw in a row over time thanks to a courageous performance on the defensive.
