Dresden (dpa/sn) – Saxony’s Economics Minister Martin Dulig (SPD) has defended the federal government’s decision to place the German subsidiaries of the Russian state-owned company Rosneft under state administration. This is the only way to ensure supplies to the East and the 1,200 jobs in Schwedt, Dulig wrote on Twitter at the weekend. “If it hadn’t been done, the refinery would have been closed by December 31, 2022 at the latest because the insurance policies would have expired and important suppliers would have stopped working together.”

Dulig is thus opposing Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU). He described the decision to state control of the oil company Rosneft Germany as wrong and warned in the MDR that this would result in another shortage and rising energy prices, then for petrol. Russian oil cannot be replaced in the short term.
