Hildesheim (dpa / lni) – A 28-year-old was seriously injured in a knife attack in Hildesheim. The man was taken to a hospital after the attack on Tuesday evening, the police and public prosecutor’s office in Hildesheim announced on Thursday. A 31-year-old man from Elze was provisionally arrested as a suspect. There is a pre-trial arrest warrant against him because of the urgent suspicion of attempted manslaughter.
According to the investigations so far, a dispute between the men is said to have occurred on the station square for reasons that are still unclear. The 31-year-old is said to have pulled a knife and stabbed him several times. A 46-year-old from Hildesheim is said to have intervened and separated the opponents. But then he also got into a fight with the seriously injured man. The police were able to apprehend the alleged stabber after a short time.
The 46-year-old man from Hildesheim was initially released from the police station after he had been arrested. He is still being investigated for dangerous bodily harm.
