Potsdam (dpa/bb) – Fewer traffic accidents were counted on the streets of Berlin and Brandenburg in July than in the two previous years. In the federal capital, the police registered almost 9,190 accidents in July 2022, as the State Statistical Office announced on Thursday. More than 9,770 accidents were counted in July 2021 and more than 10,000 in July 2020. The number of seriously injured fell in July 2022 from over 230 to more than 190, three people died (2021: two).

In July 2022, a total of 5620 accidents were counted in Brandenburg . In July 2021 there were more than 6060 accidents, in July 2020 over 6170 accidents. In July 2022, the number of people seriously injured fell by more than 27 percent from around 220 to around 160 compared to the previous year. The number of road deaths was 15, compared to 13 in the previous year.
