Goettingen (dpa/lni) – Minister of Science Björn Thümler (CDU) has handed over the financial aid decision in the amount of 425.5 million euros for the construction of construction phase 1 to the University Hospital Goettingen. This means that the construction company UMG has access to the funds from the special fund of the state of Lower Saxony for all further planning steps and construction measures for construction phase 1 of the new hospital building. The state’s “special fund for catching up on investments at universities under state responsibility” in the amount of 2.1 billion euros is primarily intended to finance investments in the new buildings at the University Medical Center in Göttingen and the Hannover Medical School, according to one message on Friday.
“With the new building, Göttingen, as one of the most modern university clinics in Germany, will develop a radiance that will have an impact far beyond the state borders. Not only will teaching, research and medical training in Lower Saxony benefit from this, but above all the patients,” said Thümler. Construction phase 1 of the clinic includes the operational center as well as the heart, neuro and emergency center for national maximum care.
