Mareike Meise takes 3rd place at the "Harmony Classic Award"

The choirmaster of the “A Cappella Company” Dachau sings her way to the top with her Dutch colleagues in the competition of the barbershop choirs in Phoenix, USA.

Professional barbershop choirs and quartets from all over the world meet annually for the international singing competition in the state of Arizona – the so-called “Sweet Adeline International Convention & Competition”. Also present this year was Mareike Meise, choir director of the Dachau women’s choir A Cappella Company . Together with her 40 fellow singers of the Dutch choir “No Border Show Chorus”, in which she has been singing for seven years, she recently took 3rd place under the direction of Stuart Sides.

Similar to the well-known Eurovision Song Contest, such a cappella competitions also take place for quartet singers and choirs at national and international level. With her Dachau women’s choir, founded in 2020, Meise is also aiming for national and international performances and participation in competitions. The now 45 singers rehearse once a week in the old town of Dachau. Next year they will compete as newcomers at the German Barbershop Championships in Dortmund.

The Dachauer Frauenchor can be heard live on Saturday, October 29th, in the Ludwig-Thoma-Haus in Dachau, together with three guest ensembles that have dedicated themselves to the four-part harmony barbershop genre. Tickets are available in advance on or at the box office.
