SPD: Disappointing draft budget from Black-Green

Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) – The SPD opposition has accused the Hessian state government of having presented an election campaign budget for the next two years when presenting the draft budget. “Last year, Finance Minister Boddenberg (CDU) was allowed to present the state budget alone,” said the budget expert for the Social Democrats, Marius Weiß, on Friday in Wiesbaden. “This year he had to share the stage with Prime Minister Rhein (CDU) and Economics Minister Al-Wazir (Greens).” This shows that neither of the two coalition partners wanted to be neglected, which is also reflected in the priorities chosen.

Compared to the budget for this year, the Minister of Finance can expect additional income of more than five billion euros over the next two years, said Weiß. “In view of these framework conditions, the proposed double budget is disappointing.” It is also incomprehensible that the state government has not yet included the state’s participation in the federal government’s third relief package in the budget draft.

At the presentation of the black-green coalition’s draft for the 2023/24 double budget, Prime Minister Rhein reported that too many details of the federal government’s planned third relief package were still unclear. In addition, the negotiations with the federal government about the cost allocation are still pending.
