Christoph Grabenwarter, President of the Constitutional Court (VfGH), in conversation about his role in the dispute between the parties, attacks on the judiciary – and why parliament should no longer appoint the highest judges, but the government.

Christoph Grabenwarter, 56, has been President of the Constitutional Court (VfGH) in Austria since 2020 and is thus the successor to Brigitte Bierlein, who served as Chancellor for six months after the turquoise-blue government burst after the Ibiza affair. Grabenwarter was appointed judge at the Constitutional Court in 2005 at the age of 38, and his term of office ends at the age of 70.
